Reimburse Vacation Expenses with Travel Insurance Trip Cancellation
I was scheduled to go to Shanghai, China last June for a business conference. Everything was ready. I already bought my plane ticket, I packed my things, and I had my passport and Chinese Visa ready. I was excited since it was my first time to go to Shanghai, which was described as the New York of Asia. I was all set for my travel.
After purchasing my plane tickets, I also applied for a travel insurance trip cancellation package. I am naturally cautious, and I wanted to be ready in case anything unexpected happens.
Unfortunately, something unexpected did happen. Aside from owning a small business, I was also teaching chemistry at a state university. The first day of classes was moved at an earlier date, which happens to be the first day of my trip. I couldn’t absent myself from teaching since I had to follow a strict schedule of my lesson plan. There was also no substitute teacher to take my place.
It’s a good thing that insurance agencies have travel insurance trip cancellation policies. The travel insurance that I got has a “cancel for any reason” program, and I only paid for the cover that I need. After I filed the cancellation with my valid reason, they paid me back the amount I spent in my holiday vacation trip.
